Top Skincare Tips

Wash your facecloths, hand towels and towels regularly as they will harbour and hold bacteria like you wouldn’t believe. The longer you leave it to change and clean your bathroom linen the more chance bacteria has to grow and then that bacteria is transferred to your face. If you have sensitive skin you may want to go with a laundry detergent that’s designed specifically for sensitivities.

Not all masks are the same or have the same effect on the skin. They are not a one-size-fits-all product. Face masks are formulated with specific skin types in mind. Avoid masks that are the current buzz or fad. Hyped up marketing can make masks look very appealing, claiming to work miracles. If used on the wrong skin type you won’t look very appealing at all. Go to our ONLINE PRESCRIPTION page, fill out a few quick questions to match your skin concerns and complexion to find out which mask is best for you.

I know it’s hard, but try to avoid sweets. Your skin contains proteins that react with too much sugar. This reaction in the body can cause breakouts for some. Most importantly it speeds up the ageing process in everyone. Minimise sugar to keep looking younger for longer.

Yes, you need to wash your face, twice a day (morning and night) is enough. Excessive face washing removes too much natural oil from the skin which can cause your skin to over-produce oil as it’s needed for protection. Over washing can also contribute to dry skin, redness, unbalanced and irritated skin.

This is not true. Facial Oil used on an oily skin is ideal to prevent the skin producing excess oil. You can most certainly use a facial oil on any skin type (including oily skin). If you want silky smooth skin, go for the facial oil. Our OMEGA-3 FACIAL OIL is jam-packed with superfood, super-nutrient, balancing ingredients to nourish and soothe all skin types. Adding a few drops of our Facial Oil to any of our moisturisers with give you healthy, radiant skin (ideal in the colder months).

It’s best to adjust your scrubbing routine according to the season. Exfoliating the skin can be done anywhere from 1-3 times a week, depending on the type of scrub you use and what skin concerns you are trying to address. Keep in mind you need to stick with once a week in the winter months as too much scrubbing will strip the skin, cause the skin to dry out and leave it feeling tight, dry and uncomfortable.

The lips don’t possess the same amount of melanin as the rest of your skin. They also don’t possess any oil glands which means they are more easily effected by environmental factors. So balm up as often as needed. Use our TREATMENT LIP BALM daily and especially at night to hydrate and restore sun-damaged, dryness or chapping of the lips.

Resist the temptation to pick or squeeze. The temptation to pop pimples is often too great to ignore. You need to know that pimples go through a life cycle. More often than not they start with a sensation, sometimes sore. Some unwanted pimples can remain sore for days. Here’s the tip – while the pimple is still sore, LEAVE IT ALONE and resist picking. When the soreness subsides that means the pimple is coming to the end of its cycle. Then, if you can’t resist, this is the time you can pop it. To avoid scarring, broken capillaries, and cross-infection here’s the tips on how to pop pimples properly.

  1. Make sure your skin and hands are clean.
  2. Place a warm compress on the pimple, this will help to soften and draw the pimple upwards.
  3. Wrap fingertips with tissue or cotton pads, so fingernails don’t put depressions (potential scars) in the skin.
  4. Place fingertips either side of pimple, gently press downward and underneath the pimple allowing the pimple to come to the surface.

Using our BLEMISH GEL as breakouts occur will help keep pimples under control and reduce the need for squeezing altogether, eliminating any trauma to the skin.
